DCF & Terminal Value Calculator

Privacy Policy

Last Updated:

1. Browser-Only Processing Assurance

Your privacy and data security are our primary priorities. This tool operates entirely within your web browser. When you enter financial data, projections, or company information into our calculator, that data is processed locally on your device. We do not upload, transmit, or store any of your calculation inputs or outputs on any external servers.

2. How We Use Local Storage

To provide a seamless user experience, we utilize your browser's native LocalStorage and SessionStorage APIs to save your work. This ensures you do not lose data if you accidentally refresh the page, and allows you to access your previous calculations. No data is written to LocalStorage without your explicit consent via our cookie/storage banner.

The specific local storage keys we use are:

  • cookieConsent: Stores your preference regarding the use of local storage (true/false).
  • dcfToolDraft: Auto-saves your current, unsaved form inputs so you can resume your session.
  • dcfToolHistory: Maintains an array of your last 10 completed valuations, accessible via the History Log panel.
  • dcfToolTemplates & dcfToolPresets: Stores any custom scenarios or valuation templates you choose to save for future use.
  • dcfToolPreferences: Remembers your UI preferences, such as currency symbols or decimal place settings.

Managing Your Data: You retain complete control over this data. You can delete it at any time using the "Clear All History" and "Clear All Templates" buttons within the tool, or by clearing your browser's site data/cache.

3. URL Hash Encoding (Share Links)

Our tool includes a "Copy Share Link" feature that allows you to easily share a specific valuation scenario with colleagues or clients.

When you generate a share link, the tool compresses and encodes your current inputs into a Base64 string appended to the URL as a "hash" fragment (the part of the URL following the # symbol). Hash fragments are never sent to a web server by your browser. When a recipient opens the link, their browser reads the hash and decodes the state locally to populate the fields. This mechanism guarantees that shared valuations remain strictly peer-to-peer and are never logged in server access records.

4. Third-Party Services & Assets

Because this is a static, client-side application, we rely on external Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) to load necessary structural files:

  • Tailwind CSS: Used for styling and layout.
  • jsPDF: Used locally within your browser to generate PDF exports of your valuation.

These services only supply code files to your browser. They do not have access to the data you type into the calculator.

5. External Advertising

We may display advertisements provided by third-party ad networks to keep this tool free. These networks may use cookies or web beacons to deliver relevant ads based on your general browsing history. These ad networks do not have access to the financial inputs you provide within the calculator itself.

6. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Because we do not collect personal contact information, we cannot notify users directly of changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the tool constitutes acceptance of any updated terms.
